Desires That Influence the Law of Attraction
This Desire-Force is a primal, primordial force. It can be found in the animal kingdom and among the lesser races of men, maybe more clearly than among the higher types of men, but only because it is stripped of the coverings, sheaths, disguises, and masks that surround the more civilized forms and planes of life in such circumstances.
But remember, the same principle is manifested beneath and beneath the polished veneer of civilized life — the Desire-Force animating the fierce and shaggy caveman or the wild Berserker who, naked and half-mad, rushed upon overwhelming hordes of his enemy, brushing them aside like flies — that is, if you will only look beneath the polished surface. Desire used to manifest its force on the physical level; today it manifests on the mental plane; the only difference is that the Force is the same in both circumstances.
A new drama that exhibits this notion has just premiered on stage as I write this. The heroine, the daughter of a wealthy and prominent New York family, has a vision of herself being stolen from her cave-dwelling father's arms by the mighty arms of a vengeful savage chief, whose desire manifested physically in a former life. She wakes up to see the face of her dream-captor on a man who joins her father's life in New York, much to her displeasure.
This man hails from the West, and he is a forceful, resourceful, and ambitious individual who has beaten everyone before him in the field of finance. He places his foot on the mental realm this time, rather than the physical level, as he has done in the past. He still has the same old desire for power, and he still possesses the same old mastery. "I have never quit; I have never been terrified," says this man.
The same old Desire that erupted in the savage now manifests in the Master of Wall Street, and between the force of its Attraction and the coupled and allied force of his Will, he repeats the performances of his previous incarnation — but this time on the plane of mental forces and achievement, with the mind, rather than muscle, serving as the instrument through which the Desire manifests.
We utilize the above example to demonstrate that Desire is the driving force that propels the Will into action, resulting in the diverse activity of life, persons, and things.
Desire-Force is a real force in life that affects not only tracts, but also other people and things, causing them to gravitate toward the center of the Desire that is sending out the currents. Desire plays an important role in The Secret of Success. There is no success without a will to succeed. Desire sets the Law of Attraction in motion.
The majority of the principles presented in this blog are Positive injunctions, which means you've been encouraged to do specific things rather than not do the opposite or contradictory. But now we've reached a point where we have to give you negative advise - we have to tell you not to do anything. Fear, the primary poison of the mind and will, is alluded to.
We make no mention of physical fear; as vital as physical courage is, and as lamentable as physical cowardice is, it is not the objective of this blog to preach against the latter and encourage the cultivation of the former; you can find plenty of that elsewhere.
Our goal here is to defeat that subtle, insidious foe of authentic Self-Expression, mental fear, forebodings, which may be classified as Negative Thought, just as the other ideas discussed in this work can be classified as Positive Thought.
